Trekking in the Himalayas is doable, but because of temperature changes, you should expect moderate hardship.

 The temperature will often range from -10 °C to 15 °C. This means that during the day, you will only be wearing two to three garments.

 Wear layers to shield yourself from the bitterly cold at night. To trap heat and keep warm, wear several layers as opposed to one bulky one.

For a seamless Himalayan trekking experience, you should pack at least five layers for every circumstance and engage in physical activity.

Things you should carry to protect yourself:

  1. Winter Cap: Made of wool to cover Head and Ear.
  1. Balaclava: Made of Fleece or wool for the neck, nose and mouth
  1. Sun cap: Don’t be tied up with a myth that the sun will never show during a winter trek. If the weather is clear, you will be in contact with the sun most of the time.
  1. Sunskin Cream: 50+ SPF
  1. Sunglasses in snow: High-altitude UV-protected sunglasses are compulsory to avoid snow blindness and other problems.
  1. Thermal (Layer 1, at night)
  1. Base Layer (Layer 2) This layer is the thinnest and is preferably made of cotton to soak up your sweat.
  1. Dri-fit collared full-sleeve T-shirt (Layer 3)
